Dhamaal

September 29, 2007

While Heyy baby is a semi comedy, While Heyy baby is a semi comedy, Dhamaal is a complete comedy with witty jokes and troublesome situations in which actors play the fools. The story of the film is fine but the strong part is its characterization. Every character is here a protagonist who plays his role excellently to cook up that laughter broth. The first half of the movie is quite interesting as it sets the mood but at the end it is quite disappointing as it fails to end with the expected high comedy graph. It’s a sure shot fun-flick to an average audience who is sure to hook on to it. To credit the film one should mark it as a pack of hilarious dialogues and their execution. Be it Javed Jafferi, Arshad Warsi, Sunjay Dutt, Asish or Ritesh, everyone has proven their skills of comedy yet again. Indra Kumar’s directorial effort is quite evident in the film but there is a lack of some chuz pa that barred the film to be a major hit.
However, both these comedies have been doing fine on the box-office, though released consecutively. Movie reviews is just the introduction to the movies but real fun is when you personally go and see the movie in the cinema hall

Heyy Babyy

September 27, 2007

HEYY BABYY is a complete entertainer with loads of comedy and emotional drama dovetailed with absolutely fine cinematography and direction. The Director of the film, Sajid Khan has made sure that viewers do not lose interest while sitting in the theater. While the movie commences with suspense about a baby left by her parents at the doorsteps of three friends, Aroush, Tanmay and Ali, played by Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Fardeen khan, the movie ends in a quite melodramatic manner with the unveiling of the furtive love affair between Akshay Kumar and Vidhya Balan. The story is stuffed with the ways of these three Casanovas, who chased many women in their life.

Once delved deep from the superficially funny act of the three actors, it is a story of human relationship, its complexities and an individual’s dual state of approach in love-a flirtatious angle and the committed facet. All the shades are very well delineated with the strong acting of the actors. The comic timing is not blatantly boisterous but appealing and sensible too. Moreover, the story revolves around all the characters and not only developing Akshay and his love interest. Also Fardeen and Ritesh rise from being mere supporting pillars to significant roles thereby tightening the plot of the film. What and how they stand in the story is to be watched out for appreciating Sajid’s effort.
